Hemorrhoid Treatment

Hemorrhoids (US English) or haemorrhoids are vascular structures in the anal canal.

Under normal circumstances they provide cushions that help with stool control. They become piles when swollen or inflamed. At this point they become known as hemorrhoidal disease.

The symptoms of hemorrhoids depend on which type of hemorrhoids they are. Internal hemorrhoids usually start with rectal bleeding which is painless, on the other hand external hemorrhoids often produce very little symptoms but if they become thrombosed, they can produce terrible pain along with swelling in the anal area

Many people incorrectly refer to any symptom occurring around the anal-rectal area as “hemorrhoids” and therefore often more serious causes of pain need to be eliminated. The precise cause of hemorrhoids is still unknown, but manyf factors which increase pressure on the abdomen, in particular constipation and pregnancy, are thought to play a major role in their cause.

Initial treatment for mild to moderate cases consists of increasing fiber intake, drink a lot to keep hydrated, along with Non Steroidal Anti-Inflamatory Drugss to help with pain. Rest as much as possible.

A number of minor operations may be performed if symptoms are painfull or do not get better with preliminary treatment. Surgery is normally only offered in serious cases after hemorrhoids fail to improve following early intervention. Many people will experience problems with hemorrhoids at some stage in their lives. The good news is that they can be treated
